I was born in Seoul, South Korea and moved to the New Jersey/New York area when I still had an abnormally sized head and could barely walk. Initially, I got a business and marketing degree (shocker, I know), but always knew that numbers weren’t for me and wearing a suit everyday was just… no. But in my senior year of college, I decided to audition for a play. I had nothing to lose so I auditioned and ended up with the lead role. By the end of the production, “the acting bug” bit the hell out of me. The experience pushed me to consider a career change in the arts—specifically, acting. As the cliché says, the rest was history. I studied at the William Esper Studio, where I completed the Summer Meisner Acting Program and the Two Year Meisner Acting Program. In addition, I completed other courses such as Voice & Speech, Cold Reading, & Audition Technique. During my time at the prestigious institution, I built a solid foundation in acting and refined skills that are valuable on any set or theatre. Also, I’ve written and produced my own plays for various festivals in New York, continue to act on stage and in film/TV, and I’m constantly in pursuit of sharpening my craft. Oftentimes, you can find me weeping as the New York Mets blow another season, looking up cool interior design ideas on Pinterest that are impossible to replicate in a rented home, and lying to myself that I enjoy overpriced black coffee. But most importantly, I’m always open to collaborate with other artists and love the idea of creating as a collective. I hope that I can break stereotypes about and within the Asian American community. I love pushing the norm by embracing stories and characters that are often taboo and silenced yet still truthfully exist. Ultimately, I want to be a part of projects that truly provide a voice to those who have often felt unheard or voiceless.
